My novel Hearts of Palm has been accepted for publication by Grove Atlantic. The book will be released in about a year's time. I'm proud to be working with this fine publisher and tremendously grateful to my agent, Sobel Weber Associates, for their patient, generous help throughout the last year.

My hero, Mr. Richard Russo, read the manuscript and had this to say:

"Intelligence, heart, wit...Laura Lee Smith has all the tools and Hearts of Palm is a very impressive first novel." ~ Richard Russo, winner of the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

I'm awed and incredibly thankful, needless to say.

Bayou Issue #53

Thank you to University of New Orleans' Bayou Magazine for publishing "Da Nang Hummingbirds" in its latest issue.
